At Whittington C of E Primary School, we have an active School Council made up of two representatives from each class from Years 1 to 6. The full council meets every fortnight to discuss issues that have been raised in Class Councils. The School Council is an important opportunity for pupils to talk about how the school can be improved and what is working well.
This Autumn term looks set to be a busy one. We now have our new representatives for 2019-20, and they have introduced themselves in a whole school assembly. We have displayed our new Golden Rules around school and understand why they are essential in making a happy school. We have produced our own Child Friendly Behaviour Policy too.
Throughout the school year members of the school council will be helping break and lunchtime staff to coordinate new play opportunities, ensuring play times are packed with fun
Eco Council is a team of elected children from across the school. Our aim is to maintain and improve our school environment as well as become more knowledgeable about the environment outside of our school. We hope to continue our ethos on sustainability by ensuring that all members of the school community are equipped with knowledge and procedures on how to reduce waste and lower energy consumption. Mrs. Willcox is the grown up who is working with us to achieve a more sustainable, environmentally friendly community within school. Eco Council meet once a fortnight.
In our first meeting of the school year, we completed an Environmental Review looking at the things we are doing well and some areas for improvement.
We have undertook our first school and community litter pick.
Over the next month we will be planting spring bulbs around the school site in containers.
We will keep you updated with news and events as they happen.
